With the help of SFPTotal PG-2GS programmer (programming board, 5V DC PS, USB, GBIC, SFP) you will be able to read, edit and upload the firmware to the memory of the transceiver, using specialized software – SFPTotal Wizard. With this solution it is possible to reprogram multiple modules and working configurations in accordance with the MSA standards. It is a perfect solution to solve your problems with transceivers of lower price range.
The problem of high-speed transceivers SFP+, XFP, QSFP
With the advent of transceiver of SFP+, XFP, QSFP formats with 10G speed and faster manufacturers refused the use of EEPROM to store firmware in the memory of transceivers.
Now the firmware is contained in a single-chip microcontrollers, which combines the functions of a CPU, RAM and non-volatile memory for storage of firmware and configuration of the module.
Despite the provided standard many vendors implement their own algorithm for writing the firmware to the memory of their transceivers SFP+, XFP and QSFP. In this regard there is no standard programming algorithm for 10/40G transceivers.
It is well-known frustration for those who tried to reprogram the 10G module when there is a programmer and also a module but for some reason it is not programmable.
Most of the transceivers in the world are produced by the “world factory” in China. Each manufacturer offers its own programmer. Unfortunately, the cost of such programmers is often high, but the range of applications is limited to one format of transceivers and manufacturer.
