As a general guide carbon fiber strip and bar has very similar characteristics to spring steel of the same dimensions. 

The major difference is that carbon fiber weighs far less even though they are the same size. Also carbon fibre has better memory and will return to its original shape after being stressed. However if the carbon is over stressed it will catastrophically fail (smash) unlike the steel which would most likely bend and reshape
