How the price of the segment mold is calculated?

The price of a set of segment mold is mainly deicded by the tire size/model, sometimes if the tread pattern design is complicated, the unit price may be higher than standard price.

The total price of a set precured tread mold= unit price per meter * length
For example, for a set of mold with 4 meter length, 305mm total width, and 38mm total thickness, the unit price per meter is USD 541, the total price of a set is 541 *4 = USD 2,164

What is the material of the segment mold, and how is it made?

The material is usually steel or AL6061 Aluminum, and the mold is mainly made by CNC processing.

What are the procedures of making a set of mold for a client?

The procedures usually include the following:

1. Initial requirement & price confirmation
Client tells us the requirements on the mold, including info like tire model , plus the clients also needs to inform us roughly how the tread pattern looks like (no accurate drawing needed for this step, a photo will be enough), based on the info provided, we will be able to provide the quotation/price for the mold. The client should also inform us how the mold is installed on his/her press.

2. Drawing making & confirmation
Once the client agrees with the price and decides to let us make the mold, we will need to make the drawing of the mold and confirm the design with the client.

There are several ways of making the drawing:

a. The client provides the drawing directly. This will be the easiest way.
b.The client send us a sample tire or a piece of sample tread, our engineers will measure the sample, then make the drawing accordingly.
c. If we have existing drawing with similar tread pattern design to what the client needs, we can modify the existing the drawing based on the size needed, and confirm with the client.

Once the drawing is finally confirmed by the client and us, a final version of the drawing signed by both sides will be make, the mold will be manufactured based on the final drawing.

3. Manufacturing
This usually takes 40-60 days depending on the size of order and the load of our factory.

4. Packing & Shipping
The mold will be packed in wooden/ laminate box. Due to the small weight & volume of the mold, usually we use LCL transportation to ship them to our clients, but other means of transportation are also available.
