The OptiX OSN 500 is a new-generation optical transmission system developed by Huawei for transmission of TDM and Ethernet services at the access layer. The equipment provides STM-1/STM-4 optical ports and is highly integratable, maintenance-free, and energy-efficient.

  By virtue of its maintenance-free design, the OptiX OSN 500 has been put into large-scale commercial use by more than 100 carriers around the world. The maintenance-free design of the OptiX OSN 500 features: 
  Fanless design without the need to clean filters 
  Plug-and-play function and in-service upgrades 
  Adaption to adverse circumstances, such as high temperatures, dampness, and unstable voltage 
  Periodic software tests, one-click fault data collection, and compatibility with hand-held network management devices 
• Energy-Conservation 
  Consumes the least amount of power among the peer products with a record low 20 W in typical power consumption. The equipment accomplishes this by dynamically adjusting the power consumption, using independently researched and developed technologies such as low-power consumption chips, and integrating a design that allows heat to dissipate naturally. 
  Meets the EU's ROHS/WEEE directive that restricts the use of hazardous substances in products.
