The NetEngine40E series universal service router (NE40E) is a high-end network product provided by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. NE40Es are usually deployed at the edges of Internet Protocol (IP) backbone networks, IP Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs), and other large-scale IP networks. The NE40E can provide a complete, layered IP network solution.

The NE40E can be flexibly deployed at the edge or core of IP or MPLS networks, simplifying network structure. With its ability to provide an extensive range of services and reliable service quality, the NE40E is driving IP and MPLS bearer networks to develop greater broadband capacity and to become more intelligent and more service-oriented.

With strong service carrying ability, NE40E can support maximum 240G Line Card and 160G CGN Card, and support flexible L2VPN, L3VPN, Multicast, Multicast VPN, and MPLS-TE deployment. Providing Multi Service Edge (MSE) features to manage and control Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE)/IP over Ethernet (IPoE)/leased line access users, NE40E can provide user access, user management, and user-based authentication, accounting, and QoS scheduling.In addition, NE40E can provide abundant value-added services such as CGN, Video enhancement, IPSec to fulfill with the FMC multi-service convergence requirement.
