Nylon 11 & Nylon 12

Semi Flexible, Ideal for Hydraulics, Robotics, Vacuum, Fuel, Vapor, Air, Brake lines

Nylon 11 advantages:  Low water absorption for a Nylon ( c. 2.5% at saturation ).  Reasonable UV resistance compared to other Nylons. Higher strength and better heat resistance than Nylon 12. 

Excellent resistance to corrosion, Chemical resistance to organic acids, salts, alkalis, solvents, hydrocarbons, etc.

Disadvantages:  More expensive than Nylon 6 or Nylon 6/6.  Low impact strength.

Nylon 12 Advantages:  Good retention of mechanical properties following exposure to sunlight/UV radiation.  It a weatherable Nylon

Nylon 12 disadvantages:  Slightly increased cost and reduced electrical characteristics

Nylon 11 tubing(polyamide 11) is considered a more earth friendly, green type of flexible tubing. It is manufactured using castor oil, which is a renewable resource obtained from the seeds of the castor plant. Nylon 11 tubing can withstand higher temperatures and pressures, making it an ideal choice for many applications. Some of the pneumatic applications include airline controls and airline accessories. Compared with other nylon tubing, it has advantages over lighter weight wall, greater flexibility and smaller bend radius. It is also more corrosion resistant than other types of nylons because of its ability to absorb less moisture. Its heat and UV stabilization makes it resistant to stress-cracking, so it works well in sunny areas like Arizona. It is chemical resistant which makes it a good choice in areas where exposure to certain chemicals is a possibility. Freelin-Wade offers Nylon 11 tubing in a variety of sizes and colors.
