Morels have two types: Spring morels (light brown color) and autumn morels (eggshell color). Morels from Yunnan are unique and popular at home and abroad, with tender meat, sweet and delicious taste, high nutritious value. They are one of the most famous edible mushrooms in the ascomycete world.

Growth characteristics
Harvest season: from April to May for spring morels, from September to October for autumn morels.

Morels grows in coniferous and broadleaved mixed forest land, forest edge, or in the grass in Dali and Lijiang area and Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.

According to analysis, every 100-gram dried Morels contains 24.5 grams of protein. Therefore, it is considered as "the source of protein ", and called as "the meat vegetable". Morels contains 18 kinds/types of amino acids. Moreover, morels contain at least 8 kinds of vitamins, such as vitamin B 1, vitamin B 2, vitamin B 12, nicotinic acid, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, folic acid, etc. The nutrition of Morels is equal to milk, meat and fish. That’s why it is regarded as one of the "healthy foods" internationally.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, morels are sweet and helpful for digestion and expectorant.

Fresh morels can be stuffed with lobster, beef, chicken or vegetables. They can also be cooked for soup, stir-fried, roasted or other methods. Dry morels are usually for soup and side dishes.
