Brief Introduction

Millet is hulled from setaria italica, very small size, diameter about 1mm. It is origin in North China, yellow river basin. The main grain crop of ancient China are white, red,yellow, black,orange,purple etc these colorful millet and sticky millet. The realiest wine in China is millet sprout wine.

Setaria italica is very adequated to plant in dry area or lack of watering area, its stem and leaf are very solid and just cattles can digest them.

Every 100grams millet contains protein 9.7 g, fat1.7- 3.5g, saccharides 72.8 g, energy 1515 KJ,calcium 29mg,phosphorus 240mg, iron 4.7mg,carotene 0.19 mg, vitamin B1 0.57mg, vitamin B2 1.12nag, niacin 1.6mg, magnesium 93.1mg, copper 5.5mg, manganese 9.5mg, zinc 25mg, selenium 45mg, iodine 8mg and estrogenic substances.

Nutritive value

Every 100 grams millet contain protein 9.7 g , is higher than white rice; contain fat 1.7-3.5g and carbohydrate 76.1 g. are not lower then paddy and wheat. Normally grain food do not contain carotene,but every 100grams millet have about 0.19 mg,and the vitamin B1 is highest in all grain food.
